The JuMp! project aims to examine the diverse mobility needs of the target group of 15- to 24-year-olds, as well as the user-friendliness and usability of communication and planning technologies for mobility activities and their economic prospects for success. To identify the specific requirements for such technical mobility services and geocommunication tools/route planners, a detailed understanding of the diverse realities of life and sociocultural differences among young people is necessary.
They find it difficult to react quickly and navigate public transportation (and public spaces)—which can also have an impact on their physical and mental health. Findings from recent projects show that young people lack concrete strategies for navigating public spaces, and that these deficits will grow in the future as the digitalization of communication and spatial interfaces with mobility services continues to expand.
JuMp! aims to contribute to the promotion of sustainable, age-appropriate mobility patterns in line with the goals of the Mobility Master Plan (avoid, shift, improve) and to foster not only social participation through access to a wide range of activities, but also sustainable lifestyles and active mobility. The socio-technical interfaces with mobility services are intended to enable young people to lead active, free, safe, and supported lives that offer a higher quality of life and greater personal physical and social freedom of movement.
