The project is coordinated by IMECAL and has received funding from the Bio Based Industries Joint Undertaking under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 745828. With a budget of 3.4 Millions € and 3 years of duration, the objective of PERCAL project is to develop intermediate chemical products with huge industrial interest (bioethanol, lactic acid, succinic acid) at high yield and purity from the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (MSW). These products will be used as chemical building blocks to manufacture eco-friendly solvents such as ethyl lactate. The international PERCAL consortium is composed of 12 organisations from 9 different countries.
